I want a barely comprehensible presence of mischief. I don’t want a smiling green goblin, I don’t even want my players to know they are goblins. I’ve used virtual tokens on it to some success, I’ve used minis on it, I’ve used dice as minis on it etc. I would love to make sure this is translated into the game I run.

It does this through really gestural and frenetic art that focuses on depicting the emotional presence of a creature and not the reality of the creature. For those of you not familiar with VotE, the art by Scrap Princess does an incredible job of capturing the terror of the setting.
